Be assured that we run a professional, efficient, and organized company, and we will take great care with your treasured items. Even though we’ve made hundreds of quilts, we know how much yours means to you, and each quilt gets the care and attention that our own quilts receive. We are a small 2-person business, and both of us loves the art of quilts and quilting.
What is included in the price?
Everything needed to make your quilt, except for your personal items, is included in your price. We use quilter’s-quality 100% cotton fabric, a premium cotton blend batting sold for use in heirloom quilts, and high-quality cotton thread in the creation of your quilt. Because we have many local clients, shipping charges are additional, and are $20 per quilt.
How long does the process take?
Normal turnaround time for a standard setting t-shirt quilt or a framed quilt is about a month, but if you have a special event and need it quicker, please let us know! Other quilts and bears may take longer. Delivery times may be delayed near Christmas and the May/June graduation season, as these are our busiest times. Get on our calendar early for these seasons!
Can I get embroidery on my quilt?
Of course. We have a Babylock brand professional embroidery machine. This machine allows us to embroider images or personalized wording on your creations that will look terrific for the life of the quilt. We offer a
huge variety of embroidery designs.
How are the edges of the quilt finished?
We use a double-folded fabric binding for strength and durability. This binding is machine-stitched to the front and back of each quilt for extra strength.
Do you machine-quilt your quilts?
Absolutely! We have a state-of-the-art APQS Millenium longarm quilting machine. This machine allows us to machine quilt your quilts at the highest quality, which helps the quilt last longer and provides beautiful quilting stitches on your quilt.
Can I wash my quilt?
Yes, you can! Our family has a t-shirt quilt that is often used at sporting events and picnics. We just toss it in the washer and dryer and it’s ready for our next adventure! For memory quilts, we advise caring for them based on the most delicate piece of fabric in the quilt.
I want an original design. What should I do?
Each Custom Memory Quilt is personalized for each client. After talking with you, you will receive a custom-created digital quilt layout image, which allows you to see our ideas. We then work together to perfect the colors, layout, and design for your quilt. In many projects, the digital quilt layout will get several revisions before the design is solidified and quilting begins.
Are there any clothing items that cannot be used in a quilt?
Nearly everything can be incorporated into a Memory Quilt. Some items that don’t work well include sweaters or other loosely knitted items and leather. Keep in mind that the items in your quilt will dictate how the quilt can be laundered. We never recommend dry-cleaning quilts, as the chemicals are too harsh and will cause the quilt fibers to breakdown prematurely.
How much fabric does a Memory Quilt take?
The short answer is that we can use as little or as much as you want to send. Your fabrics can be combined with other fabrics to complete the quilt, or we can concentrate on using more of your items.
How are photos included?
Through a special process, we can transfer photos to fabric for inclusion in your quilt. We start with prints or with high-resolution digital images. We can also include anything that can be scanned, such as ticket stubs, invitations, newspaper clippings, and letters. The fabric photos are washable, but may fade if washed many times.
